This Privacy Policy explains how VIXChart.com ("we", "our", "us", "the site") handles information when you visit our website at vixchart.com. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.
2. Information we collect
VIXChart.com is primarily a read-only information site. We do not require registration or accounts, and we do not ask for personal details in order to view content. The information collected falls into two categories:
- Information you give us voluntarily: if you email us via contact@vixchart.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use this only to respond and, where relevant, to keep a record for future correspondence.
- Usage data collected automatically: standard web logs and analytics events — IP address (typically truncated by our analytics provider), approximate location (country / region level), browser and operating-system type, referring URL, pages viewed, time on page, and similar technical details.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to run the site and measure traffic. Cookie categories in use:
- Strictly necessary: set by the site or its embedded widgets so that pages function correctly.
- Analytics: set by Google Analytics to measure aggregate usage.

4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics (property G-H55MFZDTMN) to understand how pages are used in aggregate. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data on our behalf. We use this data to identify popular content, detect errors, and improve the site. We do not use analytics data to identify individual readers. Google Analytics loads on every page without a prior consent step, and the site has no consent banner. You can block its cookies in your browser settings. 5. Advertising
VIXChart.com does not currently show ads. There is no Google AdSense or other ad script on the site, and the site does not use advertising cookies. This policy will be updated before any ad service is introduced.
6. Third-party services embedded on the site
- TradingView widgets — our VIX futures, ETF and SPY charts, tickers, news timeline, and economic calendar are embedded widgets served by TradingView. When you view a page with these widgets, TradingView receives standard request information (IP address, user agent, referring URL). See TradingView's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — fonts are served from Google's network, which involves Google receiving the request metadata associated with loading a font file.
- Google Tag Manager / gtag.js — used to load Google Analytics.
- Cloudflare — a Cloudflare-hosted serverless function proxies the delayed Cboe VIX quote shown on the site. The site stores no personal data for this.
7. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the site.
- To respond to email from readers.
- To measure aggregate traffic and identify popular content.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, and fraud.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
8. Legal bases (EU/UK/EEA readers)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — for running and improving the site, security, and measuring aggregate usage.

Our service providers (Google, TradingView, and similar vendors) may process data outside the country you live in, including in the United States. These providers publish their own data-transfer safeguards; we rely on the standard contractual protections they offer.
12. Data retention
Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings (configurable from 2 months up to a small number of years at the property level). Log data is retained briefly for debugging and security.
13. Children
VIXChart.com is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
14. Security
We use standard technical and organisational measures to protect the site and any information we hold. No method of transmission over the internet or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to minimise risk.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in practice or in law. Updates are posted on this page with a new "Last reviewed" date. Material changes will be flagged prominently.
